Security and performance
FDUEG provides, for its own products, protection boxes up to the IP66 degree which allows for transformers and reactors an installation and operation safe in every environment as it must be.
For all boxes, accessories such as air extractors, switches, temperature monitoring systems and wheels are available on request.
The boxes with a protection degree higher than IP44 allow the installation of FDUEG products in environments with heavy atmosphere and can be equipped with forced air-water or air-air ventilation systems. The ventilation air of the transformer is independent of the air present outside the box and the heat exchange takes place through water or forced air systems.
These systems make it possible to significantly improve performance, reducing the size and allowing the installation of vacuum-impregnated products even in harsh operating conditions.
Degrees Of IP Protection
According to the standard CEI EN 60529 (CEI 70-1) the degree of protection of the casing for electrical equipment is specified. It is characterized by the abbreviation “IP” and by two characteristic figures; the first digit gives an indication on the protection against accidental contacts and against foreign bodies, while the second specifies the behavior with respect to water exposure.
The IP Code, International Protection Marking, IEC standard 60529 classifies and indicates the level of protection provided by mechanical enclosures and electrical panels against the intrusion of solid particles (such as solid bodies and dust) and the access of liquids. The code is published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

IP protection degree table
IP.. | First digit: Access of solid objects |
Second digit: Access of liquids |
0 | No protection | No protection |
1 | Protected against solid objects over 50mm e.g. hands, large tools. | Protected against vertically falling drops of water or condensation. |
2 | Protected against solid objects over 12.5mm e.g. hands, large tools. | Protected against falling drops of water, at an angle up to 15° from vertical. |
3 | Protected against solid objects over 2.5mm e.g. wire, small tools. | Protected against sprays of water from any direction, at an angle up to 60° from vertical. |
4 | Protected against solid objects over 1.0mm e.g. wires. | Protected against splash water from any direction. |
5 | Limited protection against dust ingress. (no harmful deposit) |
Protected against low pressure water jets from any direction. Limited access permitted. |
6 | Totally protected against dust ingress. | Protected against high pressure water jets from any direction. Limited access permitted. |
7 | N/A | Protected against short periods of immersion in water. |
8 | N/A | Protected against long, durable periods of immersion in water. |
9 | N/A | Protected against close-range high pressure, high temperature spray downs. |
